# [Draft] Service Standard for Clinical Guidance

I just thought I'd share this draft document I've been working on here in the forum, in case anyone has time to read and comment/offer improvements or edits.

This document was born of the lack of any suitably aspirational Service Standard for the authoring, publication, dissemination, federation, and lifecycle management of Clinical Guidance. Currently it is done in a very 1995 way with Word documents exported as PDF and published on a website.

This is "Royal Colleges 2.0" level Guidance publication- its better and more available than "Royal Colleges 1.0" (which was publishing a paper guidance document, on request, via mail), but it isn't ["Royal Colleges 3.0"](https://www.rcpch.ac.uk/news-events/news/royal-colleges-30-best-practice-code) and most certainly doesn't allow us to access guidance programmatically via the EPR, do clinical decision support, or create safe AI clinical assistants.

Hence I have written a draft standard to help us aim at something better. I'd be interested to hear the views of the RCPCH forum on it. Feedback is welcome here, or as an Issue or PR on the GitHub repo.
