# React component legend - Down's Syndrome SDS **Category:** [Open Forum](https://forum.rcpch.tech/c/general/4) **Created:** 2025-06-04 13:50 UTC **Views:** 15 **Replies:** 5 **URL:** https://forum.rcpch.tech/t/react-component-legend-downs-syndrome-sds/441 --- ## Post #1 by @NicSutton Hi dGC team, user testing has highlighted that the legend in the Down's SDS chart can obscure plotted measures. See attached images from a test patient ![image (1)|624x499](upload://a6QjER2iSQ3bEFsC5I0E4C9AO.png) Clinicians using the growth chart in the Welsh Clinical Portal can alternatively view the measures in tabular format, or switch to centile graphs. However, are there plans to consider or redesign the legend so that growth measures are not obscured please? Thanks, Nicolette - Digital Growth Chart Wales Product Owner, DHCW --- ## Post #2 by @pacharanero Thanks for flagging this @NicSutton - I will ensure this is made into an Issue in the correct repository so that it is fixed. --- ## Post #3 by @pacharanero Issue created https://github.com/rcpch/digital-growth-charts-react-component-library/issues/155 --- ## Post #4 by @eatyourpeas thanks for raising this. I have published a patch that offers a toggle button to show/hide the legend if needed. A small piece of advice when testing charts is to try where possible to use dummy data that is as realistic as possible. Edge cases like this will often arise when using 'impossible' numbers. I also notice that your fonts are not rendering properly. It is possible the reason is that the Montserrat font is not present in your environment? This the font you need: https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Montserrat --- ## Post #5 by @NicSutton Hi Simon, Thank you very much for responding so promptly. Re: Test data – yes I agree. The digital team that tested and raised the issue did take it to the extreme. Will investigate the font and raise a user story for the next release if necessary. Just to let you know, we did go live in Cardiff on Monday – at the Childrens Hospital for Wales main outpatient’s department. The team there were amazing, with nurses and HCSW really liking the functionality and finding it easy to use, and lots of excitement amongst the clinicians. The dGC will be used at various sites across the city including Heath Hospital, St David’s Hospital and Llandough Hospital. In terms of national status – here’s a summary breakdown for your awareness: - Swansea Bay UHB – live (7 April 2025) - Cardiff and Vale UHB – live (2 May 2025) - Cwm Taf Morgannwg – no date yet, but testing signed off and engagement underway - Hywel Dda UHB - no date yet, but testing signed off and implementation planning underway - Betsi Cadwalader UHB – testing near completed, planning pilot in BCU central with Dr Oliver Rackham early July - Aneurin Bevan UHB – very interested despite already having their own eGrowth system, they are conducting an options appraisal to establish way forward. - Velindre NHS Trust – no plans to implement at current time - Powys NHS Trust - no plans to implement at current time In my mind, if I can get Cardiff, Swansea, Cwm Taf, Hywel Dda and BCU all using the growth chart then clinical and digital teams will see the powerful benefits of having the measures accurately plotted and accessible across Wales then the other health boards and trusts will adopt in time. Thanks again for your ongoing help and support Simon. Best, Nic --- ## Post #6 by @eatyourpeas This is great!
